BREAKING NEWS: Charlie Brown Comes to Boomerang
Good Grief......Kidscreen reports that the new animated Peanuts shorts made in France are coming to Boomerang. This marks the first US deal for these new shorts (about 500 made) and marks the first time that anything Peanuts related will air on Boomerang.
In addition, Boomerang has also announced that they will be supported by its sister network Cartoon Network via promotions on that channel and its Cartoon Network app. The network since the rebrand brought new premieres of Wabbit, Be Cool Scooby-Doo, and Shaun the Sheep.
Based on the popular comic strip by Charles Schultz, Peanuts follows the story of Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy, Sally, Schroeder, and the rest of the Peanuts gang including the world's most popular beagle....Snoopy. Nearly 50 years worth of comic strips, followed by many TV specials and five feature films including the upcoming Peanuts movie coming in November, the characters has since become beloved around the world. This year marks Peanuts' 65th anniversary and A Charlie Brown Christmas as well as Peanuts specials in general are celebrating 50 years.
Until these shorts show up on the schedule, I won't be covering much of this series until then. However, like many other properties that have aired or currently airing on Boomerang, this means that any big news about Peanuts will be covered on here. This is very exciting for me, because this is my favorite cartoon. And Peanuts will be right at home with other big names currently airing such as Bugs Bunny, Tom and Jerry, Scooby-Doo, Pokemon, and many others. Even Garfield is on Boomerang at the moment. Stay with us for the latest news about these new Peanuts shorts on Boomerang

Voice Over Actor Marty Ingels Dies
Marty Ingels, husband of Shirley Jones and an actor in his own right, passed away. He was 79. Most of his acting career involved gust starring on shows like Dick Van Dyke with his biggest role in I'm Dickens He's Fenster. For the sake of this blog, however, Ingels was more than that. He had voiced many of Hanna-Barbera's shows such as Auto Cat in the Cattanooga Cats, Beegle Beagle in The Grape Ape Show, and the voice of Pac-Man. Another show he guessed starred in was The Adams Family, which also at one point aired on Boomerang for Halloween.
Ingels' most popular cartoon role was that of Pac-Man. Produced by Hanna-Barbera, this was the first animated adaptation to a video game character. This and other shows he was on were a major part of Boomerang until the rebrand. Grape Ape was featured a lot on April Fools Monkey Day. Christmas Comes to Pacland aired A LOT for Boomerang's Christmas Party. No news as to if that block will be returning and if so what shows, but stay tuned to this block for the latest.
Condolences are with the family at this time.

Boomerang Theater: Weekend of October 24th-25th
Here is this weekend's Boomerang Theater Schecule:
Saturday: Scooby-Doo and the Monster of Mexico
Sunday: Tom and Jerry: Blast off to Mars
As always, they air at 9am ET followed by the classic Looney Tunes for a half an hour.
Speaking of Looney Tunes, the classic cartoons on Cartoon Network (Looney Tunes and Tom and Jerry, which both air on Boomerang) are back into their original aspect ratios (save for maybe the CinemaScope Tom and Jerry Cartoons which may still be incorrect with pan and scan). You have to watch in HD in order to watch correctly (or else you will have the cartoons windowboxed), but other than that...good move on Boomerang's Sister network AS WILL AN ADDITION 8pm ET hour. While a step in the right direction (I know about the DBZ Kai controversy for you Toonami fans), Boomerang will still be the ONLY network bringing you 24hrs of cartoons and a variety. Classics, new episodes, newer series, 90's classics, and anime. Hey...that's why I do this blog...for that reason ;)
EDIT: The classic cartoons are back to being stretched to 16:9, so never mind what I said and go back to watching them on Boomerang

"Vanity Smurf" to appear on Stu's Show
Allan Oppenheimer will be Stu's guest this week on Stu's Show. From Stu's Show's website:
"He's another one of those well known people whose face you recognize because he has literally appeared in thousands of TV shows and movies, as well as voiceover work in tons of animation. As an on-camera actor, he literally made a very steady, successful living going from guest role to guest role each week on different TV series...and we'll talk about many of them: "Get Smart!", "That Girl", "Here's Lucy", "The Six Million Dollar Man", "Murder, She Wrote", "Diagnosis: Murder", "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" (and "Voyager"), and so many more. His movies include "In the Heat of the Night", "Westworld", and "Helter Skelter". As for cartoons, there's "Mighty Mouse", "Ming the Merciless", "Vanity Smurf", "Skeletor", and the list goes on and on. On stage, he played the part of Cecil B. DeMille in the Glenn Close version of "Sunset Boulevard". We'll cover as much of all this as we can, and we'll also read your e-mails! "
The broadcast begins at 7pm ET/ 4pm PT. It's free to listen to live, and then will be available in the archives for only 99 cents. Some other shows he's been on that's aired on Boomerang include Billy and Mandy, The Tom and Jerry Kids Show, Captain Planet, A Pup Named Scooby-Doo, The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo, Thundar the Barbarian, Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo, The Scooby-Doo Show, Dynomutt, The Tom and Jerry Show, Hong Kong Phooey, Valley of the Dinosaurs, Inch High Private Eye, Goober and the Ghost Chasers, and Speed Buggy. Many of these shows have come and gone on Boomerang, but that's only a sample of this guy's works.
The Smurfs were a major part of Boomerang right up until the rebrand, but you can still catch them weeknights everyday on Boomerang.

Warner Archive Releases Atom Ant Complete Collection
Up n Atom! Warner Archive today has released Atom Ant the Complete Series on DVD. The collection is three discs of Atom Ant and includes the supporting segments, Precious Pup and The Hillbilly Bears.
Warner Archive is a special division of Warner Bros. that releases titles that technically would not sell well at stores, so you can order these made to order discs either on their website or by simply going to Amazon.com. Warner Archive has also been promoting this through the roof as part of their Comic Con panel as posting the original bumper intros to the cartoons which are supposed to be on this collection as well.

Wabbit ratings success on Cartoon Network
This picture shows how successful Wabbit was and the good news about the series on Cartoon Network.
It reads: "Well, today was supposed to be the last day of Wabbit premieres on Cartoon Network! But here's GOOD NEWS! Apparently, the ratings for the show were so fantastic for the network that the folks above [Bugs Bunny and Squeaks] decided to continue airing on CN, as well as Boomerang as they originally intended! WHOO-HOO!
So far, only 20 shorts have aired, but that's only a drop in the bucket! A LOT more shorts are on the way, and they just get better and better!
Those first 20 shorts will be rerun for the next two weeks, then from October 15th onward, new shorts will premiere every Thursday night! So stay tuned for more Bugs Bunny shorts!"
Stay tuned to this blog for some major Boomerang news
EDIT: Joshua who runs the Building a Better Cartoon Show: The Toonami Blog has this to confirm:
"That's actually incorrect. A new episode of Wabbit is scheduled to air October 8th on CN at 5pm ET. Be Cool, Scooby Doo is getting a similar treatment after it's first week and one day premiere week (new episodes of that will air on CN October 5th-12th and then another one as part of New Thursdays on October 15th)."
Thanks Josh for your help!
