Updates on the new Smurfs movie
USA Today reports that Joe Manganiello of Magic Mike fame will voice Heafty Smurf, Jack McBrayer from 30 Rock as Clumsy, and Danny Pudi from Community as Brainy in the upcoming Smurfs movie coming to theaters next year. The site also reports the name of the film will be Smurfs: The Lost Village. The film will be produced by Sony Pictures Animation and will be directed by Kelly Asbury.
Based on the comics by Peyo, The Smurfs gained success in recent years with the live action/CGI films that came out earlier this decade. This new Smurfs movie will be all CG and strictly based on Peyo's designs. Sony is also currently in the works of a Popeye movie
The Smurfs were a major part of Boomerang when first launched. Although the channel has re-branded and the Smurfs aren't airing as much on there, they still turn up on Boomerang.
Smurfs can be seen 4:30am ET everyday on Boomerang
