Flintstones Theme Park Closing

For my first story on this blog, it is unfortunately some sad news if you live in the South Dakota area (or if you love The Flintstones for that matter).  According to KDLT News, The Flintstones Bedrock City Theme Park and Campground has been sold and will be closing its doors on Monday.  The park was sold for $1.5 million to a hotel company called Custer Hospitality.  The campgrounds will remain open however, and there is still interest in keeping the actual park open, but the new owners will have to renegotiate The Flintstones license with Warner Bros, who currently owns all Hanna-Barbera properties.

This park has been open for 50 years now, and is based off the first ever prime time cartoon series, The Flintstones, which lasted for 6 seasons followed by various reboots and constant reruns.

Another Flintstones Theme Park operates near the Grand Canyon, but the owners there also decided to call it quits and is up for sale at about $2 million.  Again, license re-negotiation would have to be done in order to keep The Flintstones name and trademark.
The Flintstones were a major main stay for Boomerang when first launched in 2000.  With the recent re-brand, The Flintstones were shoved back to make room for more popular and more recognizable shows, but continues to still be in reruns.

The Flintstones airs every night at 1am on Boomerang
