Boomerang Shows out on DVD

A couple of Boomerang shows made it to DVD this week.  Lionsgate today released Shaun the Sheep Season 2 on DVD.  This release contains 40 episodes. It was previously released in 2011 by Hit Entertainment, but the show has since changed hands apparently (not an expert on Shaun the Sheep here).

Shaun the Sheep made his debut on Boomerang this past fall.   From Aardman Animations and originally released in the UK, Shaun the Sheep is one of Aardman's most popular cartoon series airing on many stations all over the world including Cartoon Network and Disney Chanel.  Other works include Chicken Run and their most famous work, The Wallace and Gromit series.

But now to be Steve Harvey......I made a mistake.  I reported earlier this month of the release of Be Cool Scooby-Doo.  It came out today.  This first volume contains 13 episodes of the latest Scooby-Doo series.

This is one of the first Boomerang original series along side Wabbit and the recently premiered Bunnicula.  Wabbit is also expected to make it's debut on DVD this spring.

Shaun the Sheep airs weekday mornings at 11am ET on Boomerang

Be Cool Scooby-Doo airs everyday as well on Boomerang.

Pokemon XYZ set to premiere on Cartoon Network tomorrow.

First of all, I want to apologize for not posting this sooner, but I had obligations and things in my mind that distracted me, but I felt that I better post this now.  Pokemon XYZ is now set to air its dub on Cartoon Network.  It premieres tomorrow at 7am ET.  You can watch the trailer right now.

The anime made its debut in Japan this October.  It is a continuation from where X and Y left off.  It follows the adventures of Ash, Serena, Cleamont, Bonnie, and of course....Pikachu.  They will face off against Team Rocket and along their journey earn new badges and meet new people.

This year Pokemon is celebrating 20 years with many promotions including the rerelease of Pokemon Red and Blue, a Blu-ray release of the first three Pokemon Movies, and new games such as Pokemon Go.  A Pokemon XYZ movie is in the works too with a brand new Pokemon.  Stay tuned for actual release date.

Pokemon airs weekdays at 4pm ET on Boomerang.

Updates on the new Smurfs movie

USA Today reports that Joe Manganiello of Magic Mike fame will voice Heafty Smurf, Jack McBrayer from 30 Rock as Clumsy, and Danny Pudi from Community as Brainy in the upcoming Smurfs movie coming to theaters next year.  The site also reports the name of the film will be Smurfs: The Lost Village.  The film will be produced by Sony Pictures Animation and will be directed by Kelly Asbury.

Voice Over Actor Joe Alaskey Passes Away

News From Me reports that Joe Alaskey, voice over artist for many cartoons, passed away at age 63 from cancer.  Alaskey was best known for taking on the role of many WB cartoon characters in the mid-1990's to mid-2000's.  Some projects include Looney Tunes Back in Action, Duck Dodgers, and Bah Humduck: A Looney Tunes Christmas.  Some other roles he has voiced on Boomerang shows are Droopy for the Tom and Jerry Movies (he even recreated Frank Morgan's character as The Wizard in Tom and Jerry meets The Wizard of Oz), Peter Potomus in Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law (not a Boomerang show, but Peter Potomus was), Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries (as he voiced both Tweety and Sylvester), and Tweety's High Flying Adventure.  You may have also heard him in other non-Boomerang related shows such as Mighty Mouse: the New Adventures, Grandpa Pickles in Rugrats as a replacement, and Baby Huey after Sid Raymond retired.

Alaskey's credits are endless.  He is best known for his imitations to help preserve what made them great in the first place.  There is even a Honeymooners skit from The Jackie Gleason Show that lost its audio, so Alaskey dubbed his voice to sound like Ralph's.  Wherever Looney Tunes were featured, he was there from Six Flags to Kids WB bumpers.

Many condolences to his family at this time.
