Voice Over Actor Joe Alaskey Passes Away

News From Me reports that Joe Alaskey, voice over artist for many cartoons, passed away at age 63 from cancer.  Alaskey was best known for taking on the role of many WB cartoon characters in the mid-1990's to mid-2000's.  Some projects include Looney Tunes Back in Action, Duck Dodgers, and Bah Humduck: A Looney Tunes Christmas.  Some other roles he has voiced on Boomerang shows are Droopy for the Tom and Jerry Movies (he even recreated Frank Morgan's character as The Wizard in Tom and Jerry meets The Wizard of Oz), Peter Potomus in Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law (not a Boomerang show, but Peter Potomus was), Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries (as he voiced both Tweety and Sylvester), and Tweety's High Flying Adventure.  You may have also heard him in other non-Boomerang related shows such as Mighty Mouse: the New Adventures, Grandpa Pickles in Rugrats as a replacement, and Baby Huey after Sid Raymond retired.

Alaskey's credits are endless.  He is best known for his imitations to help preserve what made them great in the first place.  There is even a Honeymooners skit from The Jackie Gleason Show that lost its audio, so Alaskey dubbed his voice to sound like Ralph's.  Wherever Looney Tunes were featured, he was there from Six Flags to Kids WB bumpers.

Many condolences to his family at this time.
